Every Employer who is registered under ESIC have to pay a monthly contribution and file Return by the 15th of the next month. Even if there is no employee contribution during the month, the Employer needs to submit a NIL Declaration to ESIC Department. ESIC is the only Social Security Organisation in the country which covers most of the exigencies (provided in the list of ILO) which are sickness, medical care for the worker, maternity, unemployment, work injury, death of worker, invalidity and widowhood. ESI scheme is an insurance scheme in which the employees and employers provide the premiums in form of contributions. You can avail of the ESI fund amount for medical use or other benefits provided under the ESI scheme only, and it cannot be withdrawn for personal use.
